Y.S. Liu
Y.S. Liu was member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in the 1960’s during which he appeared on numerous occasions as soloist with the orchestra performing violin concerti ranging from Mozart to Wieniawski. One such noteworthy performance is his recording of the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto which he premiered in Hong Kong in 1969. Until 2021, Mr. Liu served as chairman of the board of governors of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society. He is a member of the executive committee of the Asian Youth Orchestra. He was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2013 and the Medal of Honour by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2014. Mr. Liu is an advisory board member of Bard College Conservatory of Music in New York and has been a trustee of Curtis Institute of Music since 2018. Mr. Liu is chairman of Jenston Group of companies in Hong Kong and China and founder of Y. S. Liu Foundation.
