Curtis congratulates alumna Yuhsin Galaxy Su (Clarinet ’22) on her recent appointment as second clarinet with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under the baton of music director Esa-Pekka Salonen. Ms. Su is one of seven new musicians to join the orchestra’s roster beginning in the 2024–25 season, with first performances in early September. A native of Taipei, she entered the school in 2015 and studied clarinet with Anthony McGill (Clarinet ’00), Curtis’ William R. and Hyunah Yu Brody Distinguished Chair, as the Chiona Schwarz Annual Fellow.

Prior to her time at Curtis, Ms. Su attended the Affiliated High School of National Taiwan Normal University, where she twice won the school’s concerto competition and appeared as a soloist with the school’s symphony orchestra. She has won top prizes in the 2013 and 2014 HSNU Concerto Competition, third prize and audience prize at the International Morningside Music Bridge in Canada, first prize at the Young Classical Virtuoso of Tomorrow Music Competition, and two Chimei Arts Awards.
