The Bowmakers

  • Oct 2, 2020 @ 12:00 A.M.

Curtis presents the conservatory world premiere of The Bowmakers, a film by Ward Serrill, in an online screening from October 2–11.

The Bowmakers tells the story of the most important instrument you’ve never heard of: the bow. Follow the journey of the “silent servant” of the music world—from the workshops of the virtuosos of the trade, to the birthplace of the bow in France, to Brazil, home to the imperiled tree from which the world’s finest bows are made. The film features the Dover Quartet—who were recently appointed to the Curtis faculty as the Penelope P. Watkins Ensemble in Residence—in addition to the Miró Quartet and Brooklyn Rider.

Purchase a ticket for unlimited viewings on your own device for the duration of the virtual screening period.
