About the Performers
Sarah Jessen, from Colebrook, Conn., entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2017 and studies with David Bilger, principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra. All students at Curtis receive merit-based, full-tuition scholarships, and Ms. Jessen is the Gerry and Marguerite Lenfest Fellow.
Ms. Jessen’s former teachers have included Phil Snedecor and Nancy Brown, both of the Hartt School of Music. In 2019 she was a fellow at the Music Academy of the West, where she studied with Charlie Geyer and Barbara Butler. She has also attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. She began playing the trumpet at age eight and previously studied the piano and flute. In her spare time, she enjoys art, reading, and searching for the perfect cup of coffee.
