I-hao Cheng, violin
After years of study, members of the class of 2022 share their talents and passion through a final graduation recital. Admission requires advance reservation and is complimentary.
I-hao performs his senior recital, showcasing his virtuosity with a variety of works. He opens his recital with Kreisler, Schumann, and Fauré. After intermission, I-hao closes his recital with a Ysaÿe Sonata, a Bach Concerto, and Hubay’s Carmen: Fantasie brillante sur l’opera de G. Bizet, Op. 3, No. 3.

About the Performers
I-hao Cheng, from Taoyuan City, Taiwan, entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2016 and studies violin with Midori. All students at Curtis receive merit-based, full-tuition scholarships, and Mr. Cheng is the Joseph and Marie Field Annual Fellow.
Mr. Cheng first appeared at the Zhongli Arts Hall at age six and gave his debut U.S. solo recital in 2013 at Howard Henson Hall at the Eastman School of Music. He is the first-prize winner of the Virtuosi Chamber and Solo Music Competition and the Doreen B. Hertzog Concerto/Aria Competition, and is a recipient of the Chimei Artist Award.
Prior to entering Curtis, Mr. Cheng attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto on a full scholarship. He began violin lessons at age five, and his previous teachers include Mikhail Kopelman of the Eastman School of Music and Victor Danchenko and Barry Shiffman of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Maya Anjali Buchanan, from Rapid City, S.D., is a student of Ida Kavafian and entered Curtis in 2018.
Hun Choi, from Seoul, is a student of Gary Hoffman and Peter Wiley, and entered Curtis in 2017.
Haram Kim, from Seoul, is a student of Shmuel Ashkenasi and Ida Kavafian, and entered Curtis in 2016.
Yizilin Liang, from Zhejiang, China, is a student of Roberto Díaz and Ed Gazouleas, and entered Curtis in 2020.
