Reporting to the Associate Director of Information and Academic Technology, the Computer Support Specialist will be central in driving progress, improving team collaboration, and displaying exceptional troubleshooting skills supporting our staff, faculty, and students.

More Details and Qualifications

  • Essential Functions

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Ensure reliability and performance of classroom and conference room technology for classes, presentations, and some musical and hybrid presentations.  
    • Track tickets in the Help desk system utilizing ITIL best practices.   
    • Provide first-level tech support to staff to resolve technical issues and close tickets.  
    • Escalate issues to other members of IT as necessary.  
    • Support and troubleshoot all printers, including ordering supplies and making service requests when necessary. 
    • Assist Senior Academic Technology Specialist with supporting faculty and staff. 
    • Support the Senior Academic Technology Specialist’s work to maintain proper operation of campus AV systems.   
    • Monitor and report supply shortages to other members of IT as necessary. 
    • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    Education/Experience: 

    • One or more years of experience providing technology support   
    • Work experience in a higher education environment  
    • Experience with AV equipment such as Polycom, Crestron, tablets, AV panels, etc  
    • Windows and Apple OS administration  
    • Basic Networking experience such as: DHCP, DNS, VPN, VLANs, and port and patch cabling  
    • Wireless AP troubleshooting and support

  • Working Conditions and Physical Demands
    • Routine for office environment .
    • Some light physical labor involving equipment moves and room setup, with lifting unlikely to exceed 20-25lbs.  Curtis maintains several historic buildings to which egress is gained by stairs only. 
    • You will be one of several IT staff members sometimes on call for emergencies outside of business hours.
    • Occasionally, you may be required to work evenings, weekends, or come in early as needed.
    • This is an onsite position in Philadelphia, PA.  Remote work will be approved on an as needed basis if the department has adequate coverage.
    • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer at the time of hire.
    • COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for all positions at the Curtis Institute of Music and all new hires are expected to be fully vaccinated before beginning work.
    • The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check and obtain PA Act 153 clearances.
  • Compensation and Benefits
    • Gross annual salary for this position is $60,000.
