For Amy Beth Kirsten, inspiration comes from far and wide. A trained jazz singer, published poet, photographer, and member of Curtis’ composition faculty, she has often composed works on literary themes, be they Cervantes’ Don Quixote or the story of Joan of Arc. This spring at Curtis, Ms. Kirsten will present the world premiere of a 60-minute music theater piece, Infernal Angel, on a double bill with her work, Savior. In anticipation of this performance, she shares some of her favorite albums, TV/streaming series, podcasts, books, and more.
The feature also includes data about the 2024 incoming class, news about the release of Curtis Studio’s fifth album, A Century of New Sounds, and the school’s four-page Sunday New York Times feature from June 9, 2024.
