A Curtis Reflection

About
A Curtis Reflection is a three-movement work for piano solo. This work incorporates many remembrances from my time at Curtis. The first movement, 222, comes from 222 W. Rittenhouse Square, my first apartment. In F major, 222 is musically represented by the occasional intrusion of three loud low Gs. The second movement, Parkway House, is very lyrical, in the lush key of D-flat Major. Yet it ends on the dominant fading to nothingness, representing change. The third movement, 1726, represents Curtis itself, 1726 Locust Street. In C major, the address comes as C-B-D-A, the motif of the movement. Themes from the first two movements return nostalgically, and then a joyous, happy, brilliant ending pays homage to our alma mater.
