This piece exhibits a lively, spirited character. The outer sections are built around broken chords. In these, playfulness is balanced by the intensity of somewhat angular rhythms. The interior section, in the minor mode, has a more driven, determined quality. A concluding coda melds the materials of the two sections together and ends the piece on a jubilant note.
