Giving to Curtis

You can play an important part in supporting the artistic and educational programs at The Curtis Institute of Music. Your gift to the Curtis Annual Fund or endowment will help to keep Curtis at the pinnacle of music education.

Give to the Annual Fund now.

Curtis's unique all-scholarship policy ensures that talent is the only basis for admission to this most selective of music schools. But the policy places extraordinary pressure on the school to increase gifts from our individual, foundation, and corporate friends, which are essential to cover the gap between endowment revenues and operating expenses.

In proportion to its size, Curtis has trained more notable musicians in its eighty-four-year history than any other U.S. music school. Support the 162 exceptionally talented young musicians training at the Institute today, and join us in training the great classical soloists and ensemble players of tomorrow.

This past spring, Curtis broke ground on a new facility in the 1600 block of Locust Street, marking the first major expansion of the Curtis campus in more than two decades. Designed by Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates and opening in time for the 2011–12 school year, the new building will add essential space for rehearsal and learning, as well as housing and dining facilities for our exceptionally gifted young students.

The new building is named Lenfest Hall in honor of Curtis Board Chairman H. F. “Gerry” Lenfest and Curtis Overseer Marguerite Lenfest, whose transformational gifts of property and a $30 million challenge inspired more than sixty donors to match their generosity.

We are grateful to everyone who has stepped forward to make possible this extraordinary leap forward for the school.

Funds are still needed to support the endowment for the building.  By raising $5 million in new endowment, we will be able to support the facility’s annual operation while maintaining the extraordinary caliber of our teaching and performance programs.

Please join us to support the bold vision for Curtis.
